Occupy this...

As of this writing, it appears the Occupy Movement is drawing to a close. As with other movements I could mention, this one especially deserves to be flushed and forgotten. Just as we do with the earth, wind, and fire that is the residue of particularly good chili from the night before, these smelly heroes of public schooling need to be sent on their way before they actually have an impact. I don't believe they actually want anyone to take them seriously anyway. That would mean they achieved something from their own efforts, and that would refute their whole point about the 99% being powerless. Or something about global warming, or the Jews, or whatever it is they could make into a chant. "We are the 99 percent! We don't want to pay our rent!"

This is the most indulged generation in the history of the planet. Even the poorest person in the West has access to wonders and miracles. Do you have indoor plumbing? A toothbrush? A cell phone? The irony is that these people camping in the parks have given these things up to complain about how they don't have anything. I bet the weed stocks are healthy, though.

Envy is ugly at the best of times, a fact lost on the I Want generation. It is impossible to paper over the logical fallacy which states if you have two dollars you owe me one. But then, communism isn't about logic, but power over others. If these people were protesting for equality of opportunity and freedom, they wouldn't be calling for an end to capitalism. Instead, they want control over those who happen to be more productive. In the end, this leads us all in one direction- down the Porcelain Highway.
